If you’re a Vikings fan following along with training camp on social media, Cameron Dantzler would be hard to miss.
The rookie cornerback broke up a pass intended for Minnesota wideout Adam Thielen. Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer said that Thielen came up to him during practice and told him that “No. 27’s going to be really good.”
Later, he intercepted a pass from Kirk Cousins, which was promoted by the team on social media.
It’s been a good start for Danztler in training camp and it keeps getting better. Zimmer spoke with reporters recently about the rookie corner, saying that he has been a “pleasant surprise” as far as the discipline he plays with and his understanding of what the team is trying to do concept-wise.
“He’s really trying to do everything right,” Zimmer told reporters. “He seems to be pretty disciplined in what he’s doing and what we’re asking him to do. If we tell him to step with his left foot, he typically does that. I think he’s been good in the pressing technique that we’re trying to teach. He just seems to be able to take it from the meeting room to the walk-through to the practice.”
