There are ongoing conversations this offseason about which position is the most important for the Minnesota Vikings to address. While cornerback makes a lot of sense, wide receiver could pay bigger dividends in the long run.
On Thursday, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports joined the wide receiver bandwagon in his latest mock draft and had the Vikings selecting Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
“The Vikings dip into the receiver well to complement Justin Jefferson. Awesome value here for the Vikings, given Smith-Njigba’s injury in 2022 pushes him down the board.”
Smith-Njigba would be a great addition to the Vikings’ roster. Not only would he help take pressure off of Justin Jefferson, but he’d provide stability at the wide receiver position for the next half-decade alongside Jefferson.
Smith-Njigba’s stock has been up and down this offseason, but he’s a skilled receiver who has a very polished route tree. Throw him into Kevin O’Connell’s offense, and you could very well have the offensive rookie of the year next season.
