Deontay Wilder plowed through the heavyweight division like few fighters before him, scoring knockouts in 39 of his first 40 fights with a right hand from hell.

Then he ran into Tyson Fury.

Wilder and the 6-foot-9 Englishman fought to a disputed draw in December 2018 but Fury, heavier and more aggressive in the rematch, battered his rival en route to a seventh-round knockout.

Many suggested that the inevitable happened, that Wilder’s crude skills were finally exposed by a much better fighter. Some went so far as to say that Wilder had been overrated all along.
