The Mexican-American stunned the boxing world by stopping Anthony Joshua to become heavyweight champ and then, ill-prepared for the rematch, lost a wide decision and his titles last year.
In the wake of the latter fight, Ruiz and trainer Manny Robles went their separate ways. Ruiz has replaced Robles with a big name in the sport, Canelo Alvarez’s mentor Eddy Reynoso.
