Do rankings matter?
A glance at the sanctioning body rankings reveals names of fighters who obviously don’t belong on anyone’s lists of best fighters. God knows how these guys end up in the Top 10.
That might be one reason why fans seem to be more focused on the stars of the sport — fighters such as Canelo Alvarez and Tyson Fury — and not on who does or doesn’t hold one of the ever-growing number of “championship” belts.
Indeed, one could argue that we should’ve stopped paying attention to the titles a long time ago.
