Victor Wembanyama left unsatisfied with historical night in Spurs loss

After his historical night in the San Antonio Spurs’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Victor Wembanyama wasn’t pleased.

So far this season, Victor Wembanyama has been amazing. The 20-year-old rookie has completely changed the course of the San Antonio Spurs organization. Last year, they were one of the worst teams in the league, and this season, there’s a clear pathway to a brighter tomorrow. Unfortunately, right now, they’re still one of the worst teams in the NBA. And Wembanyama isn’t happy about it.

On Friday night, the Spurs lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, but Wembanyama made history during the game. He became the youngest player to put up a 5×5 game (at least five points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks).

However, when asked about his historical night post-game, he wasn’t happy. Michael Jordan was the last player to put up at least five steals and five blocks in consecutive games, but Wembanyama didn’t care. (H/t Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News)

“I wonder if he did it in wins,” Wembanyama said.

Wembanyama just wants to win.

“Hopefully in the future we can look back and think this is a good performance,” Wembanyama said. “But as of today I can’t be satisfied with the loss.”

While it’s great to watch Wembanyama put up crazy stats, Spurs fans should be happy that their player cares about winning more than anything else.
