As the season went on, people began searching for narratives that simply weren’t there. One of them involved the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama and whether or not the superstar rookie could eventually ask to be traded, as the Spurs haven’t been competitive. This sparked some wild, premature discourse.
Meanwhile, everything coming out of San Antonio has indicated that Wembanyama loves being a Spur. From the very moment he was drafted, all signs have pointed to Wembanyama wanting to be a part of the Spurs organization. And so far this season, it’s been more of the same in that regard.
Wembanyama recently spoke about how well he gets along with the Spurs front office, solidifying the idea that he should be in San Antonio for a long, long time. (H/t Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News)
“I couldn’t ask for better,” he said. “Of course, my job is to be on the court and make baskets, but the fact that we work together, it is the best for both our developments.”
If Wembanyama and the San Antonio front office continue to work together, they should have a long, fruitful relationship.
