Story recapping Nick Senzel’s performance in his first career playoff game for the Cincinnati Reds

ATLANTA — Nick Senzel had his offensive struggles for the Cincinnati Reds lately this season.

Over the latter stages of the regular season, Senzel saw his batting average drop. He finished the campaign with a .186 batting average.

The former University of Tennessee baseball player made his postseason debut Wednesday afternoon and went 2-for-4 in the Reds’ 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves in the opening game of the National League Wild Card Series.

The Reds, the No. 7 seed in the National League, had their chances but lost the game in 13 innings.

Senzel was the second overall pick by Cincinnati in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft after a stellar three-year career with the Diamond Vols.

He walked on at Tennessee after originally committing to play for Georgia.

Prior to his collegiate career at UT, Senzel was an All-State Player at Farragut High School, a Class AAA powerhouse program in the Knoxville Area.
