Texas A&M (2-1) routed UL Monroe (2-1) to the tune of 47-3 in their Week 3 matchup late Saturday afternoon. The blowout victory was just what the doctor ordered as the Aggies turn the page toward SEC play next weekend.
Despite a handful of players such as Evan Stewart and Tony Grimes not dressed, to preserve them for next week, Texas A&M’s offense was reminiscent of their high-octane scoring from Week 1. Truth be told, A&M had Conner Weigman to thank as he put together a scorching first-half performance to give the Aggies a lead they would never relinquish.
In his postgame presser following the Aggies’ return to the win column, head coach Jimbo Fisher praised A&M’s efficiency in all three phases of the game. He spotlighted Weigman’s continued development in throwing the deep ball. Additionally, he underscored how some of the young receivers, such as Jahdae Walker, were able to prove impactful in the passing game.
The Warhawks were far from a competitive opponent, but the Week 3 victory was a needed jolt as A&M prepares to welcome Auburn next week for their first taste of SEC play. Fisher echoed just as much in highlighting that the season truly begins when the Tigers come to town next Saturday.
Below is Fisher’s full UL Monroe postgame press conference, as well as notable highlights from his time at the podium.
