Longtime Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe technical director Pascal Vasselon will be stepping back from operational duties for the 2024 season as the Cologne, Germany-based team reviews its management organization.

Vasselon’s role will be filled for the season by David Floury, who dovetailed race engineering roles with Toyota with serving as ORECA technical director for several years before moving to Toyota full-time in 2021.

Vasselon arrived at Toyota in 2005 from Michelin, where he ran the Formula 1 program, and was initially placed in charge of Formula 1 chassis development before replacing Mike Gascoyne as technical director a year later. He steered the Toyota’s F1 operation until it withdrew from grand prix racing in 2009, following which he led its entry into the WEC three years later.

Vasselon’s technical leadership delivered Toyota six World Manufacturers Championship wins and five consecutive Le Mans 24 Hours victories between 2018 – 2022.
