Tennessee’s women’s tennis team lost its home match to Vanderbilt Friday.
The Lady Vols (11-7, 5-5 SEC) captured the doubles point, but dropped a 5-2 decision to the Commodores Friday at Knoxville’s Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The match against Vanderbilt (12-7, 4-6 SEC) was moved from Barksdale Stadium due to inclement weather.
In doubles, Tennessee’s duo of Rebeka Mertena and Esther Adeshina defeated Dasha Kourkina and MaryAnn Rompf, 7-5.
Also in doubles, the Lady Vols’ tandem of Elza Tomase and Kylie Duckworth edged the Commodores’ team of Yufei Long and Amy Stevens, 7-5.
The Lady Vols picked up their lone win in singles at No. 2 as Tenika McGriffin (No. 55 in the nation) outlasted Vanderbilt’s Anessa Lee (No. 78) in three sets, prevailing, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4.
