Valheim sells more than 10 million copies, Mistlands update coming this year

The Viking crafting adventure shatters another milestone.

Nobody saw Valheim‘s success coming when it came out on Steam Early Access last year. Now, the indie crafting gem is a mainstream hit.

On Monday, Iron Gate announced that Valheim has sold over 10 million copies. That number may not sound impressive compared to Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, or Dying Light 2‘s recent accomplishments, but indie games rarely reach numbers like these. So it’s an incredible achievement.

“Thank you to every single one of you who got us to this milestone,” Iron Gate said on Twitter. “When we launched the game we could never in our wildest dreams have imagined this!”

Fans are obviously wondering where the Mistlands update is, and Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson touched on that in the press release accompanying Valheim‘s sales milestone.

“Our team has doubled since launch, and knowing Valheim is enjoyed by millions of players around the world honors and humbles us at the same time,” Svensson said in a press release. “Our ambitions for the game have never been stronger, and the development of Mistlands is well underway – we can’t wait to bring this new mysterious biome to the game.”

Iron Gate also states that Mistlands should release for Valheim sometime in 2022.
