It’s still early in the offseason, but Colorado football may have just landed one of its starting inside linebackers for next season. After leading UTSA with 80 total tackles this past year, Martavius French entered the transfer in December and announced his commitment to the Buffs on Sunday.
French, a former junior college linebacker who was granted an extra year of eligibility due to a recent ruling, put up some impressive numbers during his three years at UTSA. This past season, French tallied 17 TFLs, one sack and three passes defended in 13 games played.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders must replace several defensive starters this offseason, including ILBs LaVonta Bentley and Nikhai Hill-Green. French is the third transfer linebacker to land with the Buffs, joining Reginald Hughes (Jacksonville State) and Kylan Salter (TCU).
Also on Sunday, Colorado picked up Louisiana Tech transfer offensive lineman Zarian McGill.
