UT’s Carly Briggs closes fall tennis season on high note

UT sophomore tennis player wins fifth consecutive singles match.

NASHVILLE — University of Tennessee tennis player Carly Briggs kept her winning streak alive on Sunday, the final day of the 2020 fall season.

Briggs, a Calhoun, Georgia native and sophomore for the Lady Vols, outlasted Auburn’s Selin Ovunc in a three-set match 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the final day of the June Stewart Invitational, a tournament hosted by Vanderbilt.

Briggs has won her last five matches dating back to Oct. 17.

She finishes her fall campaign with a 7-2 record.

Other Lady Vols to post singles wins on Wednesday included Daria Kucer and Esther Adeshina.

Tennessee will return to action in the spring and will announce its schedule at a later date.
