A shocker of an exit late in the off-season.
Just days after bringing in a new quarterback through the trasfer portal, it appears that the Utah State Aggies will be losing one through that same avenue.
Mountain West Football: 2019-20 Transfer Tracker
Henry Colombi’s name appeared on the transfer portal today, meaning that the Hollywood, Florida native appears unlikely to stick around for any lengthy quarterback competition. He appeared in 11 games for Utah State across the 2018 and 2019 seasons, completing 53 of 69 passes for 460 yards and two touchdowns with just one interceptions. Much of his playing time in the past two years came late in blowout wins, in relief of departed starter Jordan Love, but he was expected to have the inside track to the starting role in 2020.
That calculus may have changed in recent days, however, following Jason Shelley’s arrival as a transfer from Utah earlier this week. Shelley started five games for the Utes in 2018 but could never wrest the QB1 job away from incumbent Tyler Huntley and declared his intent to depart back in February.
Utah State’s current roster also lists three other quarterbacks, sophomore Andrew Peasley and redshirt freshmen Josh Calvin and Cooper Legas.
