Utah and LSU experience major falls in Week 6 US LBM Coaches Poll

LSU and Utah are the biggest losers in the most recent edition of the US LBM Coaches poll.

The Week 6 edition of the US LBM Coaches Poll is out and while most of the top 10 saw some shuffling, the most change happened within the No. 10 to No. 21 spots.

The biggest headline this week is that the Utah Utes and LSU Tigers both suffered big falls after suffering losses this weekend to Oregon State and Ole Miss.

In this week’s poll, the Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes remain the country’s top three teams.

The Texas Longhorns moved up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4, seeing a one-spot boost for the second straight week. As they moved to No.4, the Florida State Seminoles dropped one spot while on a bye week.

Penn State traded places in Southern California going from No. 6 to No. 7 while Alabama following a convincing win over Mississippi State is back in the top 10.

This week’s biggest winner was the Kentucky Wildcats who moved up seven spots from the unofficial No. 27 spot to No. 20 in this week’s poll. The Wildcats earned a convincing top-25 win over Florida on Saturday by the final score of 33-14. It’s the first time this season that they rank the Wildcats in the poll.

Oregon State was another big winner moving up five spots from No. 21 after a big 21-7 win over the Utah Utes this past Friday.

Also new to the rankings this week is Fresno State, who is now 5-0 on the season after a 27-9 win over the Nevada Wildcats. The Bulldogs also have a pair of Power Five wins this season. Louisville also enters the poll for the first time thanks to a 13-10 win over the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Thursday. The Cardinals are also 5-0 as the calendar flips to October.

LSU and Utah are the biggest losers, according to the poll. The Tigers fell eleven spots from 12 to 23 after a 55-49 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday night, their second loss of the season. The Utes similarly fell from No. 10 to No. 19 following their loss in Corvallis on Friday as star quarterback Cam Rising remains sidelined.

Falling out of the US LBM Coaches Poll this week are the Florida Gators, Kansas Jayhawks, and Kansas State Wildcats. The Jayhawks fell to Texas 40-14 while the Wildcats fell out of the rankings after having Week 5 off.
