KNOXVILLE — A three-game winning streak came to an end for the University of Tennessee softball team when it fell to North Carolina, 3-2, Tuesday night at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Tennessee (14-9) closed out the Tennessee Classic with victories over Toledo (10-9 in nine innings), East Tennessee State (10-2 in five innings) and Stanford, 5-0, in Sunday’s championship game.
The Lady Vols scored first against the Tar Heels (10-13) Tuesday night when Chelsea Seggern clubbed a solo home run over the center field fence in the bottom of the first inning. Her blast hit the UNC bus after leaving the park.
North Carolina took a 3-1 lead when it plated three runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run double by Lexi Godwin. Later in the frame, Zoe Goodman had an RBI single.
Tennessee pulled to within 3-2 when Kaitlin Parsons scored on a wild pitch after reaching base with a pinch-hit single.
