Women’s golf also announces two signings
Judi Pavon, the UT women’s golf coach, also announced the signing of two new players on Thursday.
Kayla Holden, from Coral Springs, Fla., is a top-225 recruit in the world according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. She has won three consecutive BCAA Championships while finishing as the runner-up at the 2019 State Championship, along with numerous local awards.
“I’m excited about Kayla becoming a Lady Vol. She is an up-and-coming player with tremendous physical talent. I can’t wait for her to get to Tennessee so I can watch her play every day,” Coach Pavon said.
Vanessa Gilly, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, is one of the top amateurs in South America, winning the Venezuelan Athlete of the Year in 2018. Gilly is is the reigning 2019 Venezuelan Amateur champion and the Venezuelan Junior champion in 2017 and 2018, and is currently ranked inside of the top 400 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
“Vanessa is a very experienced highly-ranked player that will help our program right away. She has competed in the biggest events in Latin America and is a consistently top performer. We are excited to add an international player of her ability to our roster,” Coach Pavon said.
Much like with the men’s additions, these two women will likely prove to be strong assets for the Lady Vols golf team.
