UT football: How opponents fared in Week 14

KNOXVILLE — The 2019 regular season is over for most FBS teams as only the annual Army-Navy game remains.

Two of Tennessee’s opponents have conference championship games looming as Georgia tangles with LSU in the Southeastern Conference championship game and UAB will take on former UT head coach Lane Kiffin and Florida Atlantic in the Conference USA title tilt.

Chattanooga (6-6) failed to qualify for the FCS playoffs. Vanderbilt and South Carolina are not bowl eligible, while Missouri went 6-6 but won’t be in the postseason due to NCAA sanctions.

Georgia State (6-6) lost to Georgia Southern 38-10 on Saturday. The Panthers are bowl eligible.

BYU (6-6) lost to San Diego State 13-3 on Saturday. The Cougars are bowl eligible and have accepted an invitation to play in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 24

Chattanooga (6-6) was idle. The Mocs failed to qualify for the NCAA FCS playoffs.

Florida (10-2) beat Florida State 40-17 on Saturday. The Gators are bowl eligible.

Georgia (11-1) beat Georgia Tech 52-7 on Saturday. Next up: vs. LSU in the SEC championship game, Saturday, 4 p.m.

Mississippi State (6-6) beat Ole Miss 21-20 on Thursday. The Bulldogs are bowl eligible.

Alabama (10-2) lost to Auburn 48-45 on Saturday. The Crimson Tide are bowl eligible.

South Carolina (4-8) lost to Clemson 38-3 on Saturday. The Gamecocks are not bowl eligible.

UAB (9-3) beat North Texas 26-21 on Saturday. Next up: vs. Florida Atlantic in the Conference championship game, Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Kentucky (7-5) beat Louisville 45-10 on Saturday. The Wildcats are bowl eligible.

Missouri (7-5) beat Arkansas 24-14 on Friday. The Tigers are not bowl eligible due to NCAA sanctions.

Vanderbilt (3-9) lost to Tennessee 28-10 on Saturday. The Commodores are not bowl eligible.
