USC women’s basketball lands top-55 2024 guard Rian Forestier

Getting a top guard from San Antonio shows how much momentum #USC WBB is building after its NCAA Tournament season.

This is how a program builds a consistent winner. USC women’s basketball had to prove it could thrive under new coach Lindsay Gottlieb. Making the 2023 NCAA Tournament — USC’s first NCAA tourney in nine years — gave recruits and transfers across the country the proof of concept the Trojans needed to sell players on their quality. Now players want to come to Los Angeles to play for Gottlieb and assistant coach Beth Burns.

USC landed a commitment from San Antonio-based guard Rian Forestier. The 5-11 guard is a local high school basketball star, one of the best players in her city and in the state of Texas. ESPN (see tweet below) has Forestier ranked in its top 55 recruits for the Class of 2024.

Forestier has basketball blood lines in her family. Her mom is a high school hoops legend in San Antonio who played college basketball in the state of Texas. Gottlieb’s ability to pull Forestier to L.A. is a clear and tangible sign of how much momentum the Trojans are building as a result of their March Madness run this past season. It’s another great sign of what Gottlieb is building at Heritage Hall.
