Our friends at Buffaloes Wire have been incredibly busy, documenting all the many transfer portal departures and arrivals in Boulder under Coach Prime, Deion Sanders. You will want to follow Buffaloes Wire for continuing coverage of a college football offseason unlike any other in Boulder.
While the college football world stares in amazement at what’s happening under Deion Sanders in the Rocky Mountains, it is worth pausing for a moment and being clear about one simple point: USC, which visits Boulder on Sept. 30 this year, is in excellent position to beat the Buffs.
Any team which gets Colorado in the first half of the season is in a good spot against Coach Prime.
This is not to say that Colorado lacks talent. That is definitely not the case. There’s a lot of quality coming into the program, with — before we’re done — over 30 transfers making their way to Boulder while several dozen players have transferred out.
The problem for Colorado is that most of these transfers didn’t get to play in the spring game. Dozens of players who played in the spring game have subsequently hit the portal. The players coming to Colorado didn’t get the benefit of playing together in spring practices. The roster is being thrown together in the spring and summer. This will be a crash course for Coach Prime, who will need time to teach this team how to play together, communicate together, function together, and thrive together.
Getting CU early in this particular season will be an enormous benefit to USC. In order to appreciate how disordered and chaotic this process has been, check out all these Buffaloes Wire portal stories below:
