USC basketball is highest-ranked program in the West for upcoming season

#USC is rated above the San Diego State #Aztecs, who made the national title game last April. USC is 7 spots above Gonzaga, whom it plays December 2.

The upcoming college basketball season will be a tough one in the Pac-12 Conference. The Colorado Buffaloes look dangerous with Cody Williams in town, but the USC Trojans could be one of the best in the country with Boogie Ellis returning, Isaiah Collier entering, and the addition of Bronny James.

With the season months away, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports dropped a top 25 rankings list, and the Trojans landed at No. 12 overall, which is the highest on the West Coast, one spot ahead of the San Diego State Aztecs, who made the national title game last season.

Here’s what Parrish wrote about the Trojans:

“This ranking is based on the Trojans returning four of the top seven scorers – Boogie Ellis, Kobe Johnson, Joshua Morgan and Vincent Iwuchukwu – from a team that won 22 games and secured a No. 10 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. USC is also enrolling two heralded guards – Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2023, and Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James.”

Arizona sits at No. 16 overall and is the only other Pac-12 school listed for now, but a lot can change over the next few months.

USC is listed seven spots ahead of No. 19 Gonzaga, whom the Trojans play on Dec. 2 in Las Vegas.
