USC basketball has pursued multiple high-profile recruitments in the state of Utah

Andy Enfield has made his presence felt in the state of Utah.

Alta High School (Utah) forward Jaxon Johnson committed to the University of Utah in early November. Johnson chose Utah over USC, BYU and Stanford.

The 6-foot-8 Johnson said that “Utah plays a fun brand of basketball and I feel like I fit that style perfectly.”

Analysts weighed in on Johnson’s game:

“Jaxon Johnson is a skilled face-up four man who stretches the floor and has a definite niche in offensive structure,” writes 247 Sports’ Adam Finkelstein. “He shoots the ball with deep range and a soft natural touch that gives him gravity spacing the court, playing pick-and-pop, and in other types of screening action. He is a willing ball-mover and good passer for his size, with high court awareness and good instinctive feel for the game.”

Johnson had this to say about USC:

“USC and BYU, I had a great relationship with them coming down the end,” Johnson said. “At the end of the day, I just got to trust my heart. It was leading me to Utah.”

On3 Sports, Rivals and ESPN all have him as a four-star player, with both On3 Sports and Rivals rating him as a top-100 prospect.

Johnson will go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will play at Utah in 2026.

While Andy Enfield didn’t land Johnson, he did get Brody Kozlowski, a prospect from Draper, Utah. USC has been heavily involved in the recruitments of multiple Utah-based prospects.

Win some, lose some. The main thing is that USC isn’t getting completely shut out.
