Defeating former champion [autotag]Kamaru Usman[/autotag] in back-to-back bouts, Edwards recorded the first defense of the welterweight title in front of a home crowd in London. The No. 1 spot at welterweight was already held by Edwards, but he made moves elsewhere.

Entering the week at No. 9 in the USA TODAY SPORTS/MMA Junkie men’s pound-for-pound rankings, Edwards climbed all the way up to the No. 5 spot, with Usman right behind him.
