Steve Sarkisian has been with Texas for less than two months, but many are already impressed with what he’s been able to accomplish in that short span.
When Sarkisian was initially hired in place of Tom Herman, many felt it was a lateral move. However, after witnessing Sarkisian’s play calling wizardry and game plan in the national championship for Alabama, coupled with the impressive assistant coaching staff that he was able to bring in, Texas fans are now on cloud nine.
Was Sarkisian the best head coaching hire in all of college football this offseason?
Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports recently ranked the hires and Texas’ new coach was listed behind Gus Malzahn (UCF) and Bryan Harsin (Auburn). Sarkisian landed at No. 3 overall.
The latest coach to refurbish his reputation with the Crimson Tide, Sarkisian takes over a program fresh off three consecutive top-ranked recruiting classes but in need of a new voice and an established identity on offense. Sarkisian will immediately deliver the latter and make the Longhorns a popular destination for regional and national recruits.
CBS Sports recently graded each college football hire and Sarkisian landed at No. 2 behind Malzahn. Regardless, Sarkisian is off to a hot start on the Forty Acres with the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation for the 2022 cycle.
Sarkisian will make a solid case for the No. 1 spot on these rankings if he’s able to lead Texas to the Big 12 championship game in year one.
