USA Today Sports predicts the best and worst case scenario for Arkansas’ 2022 season

Christina Long of the Southwest Times Record forecasts a thin line between the best and worst case scenario for Arkansas this season.

The No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks are officially less than one week from the beginning of the 2022 season, opening up with a College Football Playoff participant from last season, Cincinnati.

Anticipation continues to grow for Razorback fans, as their team is forecasted to have one of the best seasons in recent memory.

With so much hype surrounding Arkansas, one USA Today Sports writer has weighed in on what the best and worst case scenario is for the Razorbacks this season.

Christina Long, who covers Arkansas athletics for the Southwest Times Record, says that the most ideal outcome for the Razorbacks this season is earning nine wins.

Arkansas can improve upon last year’s 8-4 regular season. With one of the nation’s hardest schedules, three losses would be a big win in Sam Pittman’s third year.

Arkansas does have plenty of talent, but will indeed play one of the toughest schedules in the country, as every opponent competed in the postseason one year ago. The worst-case scenario could be determined by two games says Long, who projects Arkansas’ basement to be 7-5.

A daunting non-conference schedule and an SEC West that’s wide open outside of the top two teams could mean trouble. Two losses more than last season is possible and would be a disappointment.

The first step towards a successful season will take place Saturday, September 3, as the Razorbacks welcome No. 22 Cincinnati to Reynolds Razorbacks Stadium.
