With the NFL regular season finishing on Sunday, it is officially NFL draft season for 18 franchises. The order of the first 18 teams is set, with the Jacksonville Jaguars getting the first overall pick.

Presumably, they will select Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. He is seen as one of the best quarterback prospects since Andrew Luck.

In USA TODAY Sports’ latest NFL mock draft, Lawrence will pick up a fellow Longhorns to protect his blindside in Samuel Cosmi. The Texas star is projected to go No. 21 overall, a pick originally owned by the Los Angeles Rams.

Cosmi was already seen as a night one selection going into the 2020 season. With his solid play at left tackle all year, he did nothing to jeopardize his stock.

Here is the scouting report on Cosmi:

Already equipped with the frame (6-7, 310 pounds), movement skills and knowhow of an NFL left tackle, Cosmi would provide an added degree of comfort for Jacksonville as Lawrence’s blindside protector.

Three picks later, Joseph Ossai is projected to be selected by the Tennessee Titans at No. 24 overall. The junior linebacker/defensive end hybrid broke out in 2020, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Ossai finished with 5.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss this season. Playing outside linebacker under Todd Orlando, he was moved to the Jack role under Chris Ash’s defense. The performances throughout the year boosted Ossai into a surefire first-round draft pick.

Here is the scouting report on Ossai:

If Tennessee is to make the leap into the AFC’s elite tier, it will need to add a hard-charging edge presence like Ossai to invigorate its flatlining pass rush.

If both Cosmi and Ossai are selected in the first round, it would be the first time since 2006 since Texas had multiple night one selections. Vince Young and Micahel Huff both went No. 3 and No. 7 respectively coming off their national championship win over USC.
