USA TODAY ranked Chiefs with ninth-best 2023 NFL draft class

USA TODAY’s Nate Davis ranked the #Chiefs’ 2023 draft class in the NFL’s top 10 while giving them a B-plus grade.

Depending on who you ask, the Kansas City Chiefs either aced the 2023 NFL draft or came away with an underwhelming group of players.

USA TODAY’s Nate Davis was a fan of what Chiefs GM Brett Veach accomplished during the draft. He recently provided grades and ranked all 32 NFL teams according to those grades.

Kansas City managed a B-plus grade from Davis and came in with the ninth-best draft class. One reason for that? Davis appears to be (rightfully) including the team’s draft capital investment used to acquire Kadarius Toney in trade.

Check out what Davis had to say:

We’re at a point where it’s hard to doubt much GM Brett Veach and HC Andy Reid do. First-round DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah, second-round WR Rashee Rice and third-round RT Wanya Morris all seemed to arrive at the intersection of need and value. And don’t forget the champs obtained WR Kadarius Toney for a third- and sixth-rounder … before he played a key role in their Super Bowl 57 victory.

Davis clearly likes how the Chiefs attacked their needs in the first three rounds, blending both positional needs with value. He also seems to think the investment that the team made in Toney has already paid off with the Super Bowl LVII win. Anything from this point onward is simply a bonus for Kansas City.
