Urban Chophouse, a steakhouse in Columbus, Ohio, that was a joint venture between former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and Columbus restaurateur Chris Corso will be sold and rebranded according to Taijuan Moorman of The Columbus Dispatch. It was their second project together after partnering to open Urban Pint House in Dublin, Ohio.
The restaurant opened in May of last season but is being sold to Shawn Shahnazi, another local restaurant owner. The restaurant will be rebranded, with Meyer’s name taken off and a new head chef hired to rework the menu.
CJ Amadi, director of concierge for One Hospitality, confirmed the sale in an email to The Dispatch, saying the private investment group had “local roots” and in partnership with the group, One Hospitality would “continue to make sure Chophouse remains the premier dining and entertainment spot in Greater Columbus.”

Complete details of the sale have yet to be provided, but the news continues an awful run of bad misfortune for the beleaguered Meyer. Many of those details have been written about extensively, including his dismissal from the Jacksonville Jaguars after a first-year that couldn’t have gone much worse.
