Updated Rams-Panthers odds: Has the spread moved with Baker Mayfield out?

The Rams opened as big favorites over the Panthers, and the spread hasn’t moved since Baker Mayfield was ruled out

The Los Angeles Rams are catching a very different Carolina Panthers team this week than the one that played the first five games of the season. Matt Rhule has been fired from his head coaching position, and quarterback Baker Mayfield is out with an injury.

The Rams had already been big favorites before those two big pieces of news were released, and one would assume that the line would’ve moved even further in Los Angeles’ direction since. However, that’s not the case.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Rams are still 9.5-point favorites, the same line to open the week. The over/under has also stayed put at 41.5 points.

At one time this week, the Rams were favored by as many as 10 points, but the line has come back down to its original position. That could be due to the Rams’ own injury problems, with Cooper Kupp being limited and Aaron Donald held out with a foot injury the first two days.

Even with Los Angeles being as banged up as it is, this team should be able to beat P.J. Walker and the Panthers. It’s just hard to say whether they’ll beat the Panthers by double digits like the spread suggests.
