Updated NCAA baseball tournament projection for North Carolina

Here is where the UNC baseball program is seeded in the latest projections by D1Baseball.com.

North Carolina’s ACC Tournament came to a screeching halt on Saturday afternoon when the red-hot Clemson Tigers took care of the Tar Heels in the semifinals. The loss was the fourth in the past 10 games for UNC to Clemson after being swept on the road a week ago.

But with UNC out of the ACC Tournament, the focus turns to Monday’s NCAA Tournament selection show.

The Tar Heels will be in the field when the seeding is announced, but where will they land? Looking at D1Baseball.com’s updated projections from Sunday morning, the website has them as a No. 2 seed in a regional. It’s a tough one as they head to Nashville to play in the Vanderbilt regional:

1. Vanderbilt (No. 6)

4. Lipscomb

2. North Carolina

3. Kent State

As you can see, the Tar Heels are paired up with Vanderbilt, Kent State and Lipscomb in this region. And it looks like a tough one.

Vanderbilt has been one of the best teams in college baseball all season and UNC has struggled against teams in the top 15.

Let’s see what the committee has in store for the Tar Heels this week.
