Updated MVP odds for former UGA QB Matthew Stafford

Stafford for MVP?

Matthew Stafford is doing exactly what everybody expected him to do with the Los Angeles Rams.

He’s fourth in the league in passing yards (1,838), third in touchdown throws (16), has completed 69.5% of his passes and has only thrown four interceptions all season.

But the most important part is that the former Georgia Bulldog and No. 1 overall pick has guided his LA Rams to a 5-1 record and are looking like the best team in the NFL.

Following the Rams’ blowout win over the Giants in Week 6, Stafford now has the fifth-best odds to win NFL MVP, according to Tipico Sportsbook.

Here are the top five candidates through six weeks.

  1. Kyler Murray: +330
  2. Josh Allen: +480
  3. Dak Prescott: +500
  4. Tom Brady: +650
  5. Matthew Stafford: +900

From RamsWire:

Betting Stafford at +900 odds isn’t terrible value, especially if you’re someone that believes he remains on his current path for the rest of the season. At those odds, a $100 bet would return a profit of $900. If Stafford were to continue on his current trajectory in the regular season, he’s on track to finish with 5,207 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Stafford plays his old team, the Detroit Lions, this Sunday.
