We still have weeks before college football kicks off in earnest, but the 2022 season is close enough that it’s no longer accurate to say months.
While preseason projections are never fully accurate — there will be teams expected to be great who will either struggle to make bowl games, if at all, while others that aren’t expected to be good will invariably be College Football Playoff contenders — it’s always interesting to get a snapshot of expectations. Even more so when they’re based on advance analytics.
The latest ESPN FPI rankings are out, which feature all 131 FBS-level college football teams. But, taking a look at the top 25, here are the teams that are expected to be the best in sport in 2022.
