It was a frustrating 2020 season for former OU running back Joe Mixon. After starting each of the team’s first six games, he had an injury that would cost him his season.

According to Bengals Wire, the status of Mixon has been a positive one.

Mixon’s status has been a little more mysterious after a nagging issue limited him to six games last year, so in this case, any news appears to be good news.

Ideally, the Bengals will have a massively upgraded offensive line awaiting both star players when they return and get on the field over the summer. The quest to make that reality starts in free agency next week.

Since joining Cincinnati, Mixon had played in at least 14 games in each of his first three seasons. This past year, he played and started six games with 428 yards and three touchdowns on 119 carries. Former teammate Samaje Perine would join the team to shoulder some of the load in the latter part of the season. Mixon injured his foot against the Indianapolis Colts after carrying the ball 18 times for 54 yards and one score.

The hope is that he and Joe Burrow will both be healthy in 2021 to try and lead their team out of the doldrums of the AFC North division.
