Local government policies and stricter guidelines to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic could now have a major impact for some players on the roster. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the NBA plans to enforce local governmental policies that will require all players in the New York City and San Fancisco markets to be vaccinated in order to play home games. Unvaccinated players for Brooklyn won’t be allowed to play at the Barclays Center due to these requirements next season, barring an approved exemption. Visiting players will be exempt and allowed to take the court.
This immediately impacts any plans for Nets players who have not been vaccinated up until this point. A large chunk of the season, which is half of the games during the regular season to be exact, will be played in Brooklyn.
This follows local governmental policies, meaning unvaccinated players on the Nets, Knicks and Warriors are not allowed to play in home games. Visiting players are exempt from the vaccination requirements in NYC and SF. https://t.co/fPePW722Og

These policies also impact the Nets’ local rivals, the New York Knicks, as well as the Golden State Warriors.
