San Diego State held on for a 14-10 win over UNLV on Saturday. The Aztecs managed to close out the game and avoided giving UNLV a chance to win the game.
Jalen Mayden opened up the offense with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jesse Matthews with 9:16 left in the second quarter. San Diego State held a 7-0 lead over UNLV.
San Diego State made it a 14-0 game with a 24-yard touchdown from Mayden at the 10:55 mark in the third quarter. On the following drive, UNLV quarterback Doug Brumfield threw an interception, but San Diego State failed to convert the turnover into points.
After the interception, Brumfield recovered with a 70-yard touchdown throw to Nick Williams with 5:11 to go in the third. This score cut San Diego State’s lead in half, 14-7. UNLV had a strong offensive outpouring in the third quarter with more than 200 yards in the quarter.
At the 10:40 mark in the fourth, UNLV tacked on 3 points with a 28-yard field goal from Daniel Gutierrez. The Rebels trailed by four points, 14-10.
San Diego State held on for a 14-10 win over UNLV. With the win, San Diego State moved to 5-4. UNLV dropped to 4-5 on the season. This was UNLV’s fourth consecutive loss.
