UNC football heads to transfer portal, offers defensive back

Mack Brown and the UNC football program are going to the transfer portal to offer a former three-star defensive back.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have their eyes on the transfer portal for a late addition to the 2022 roster.

Former three-star recruit and Middle Tennessee State defensive back Quincy Riley announced on Monday morning that he has received an offer from North Carolina while in the portal. Riley entered the portal on February 16th and has drawn interest from a few programs with UNC being the latest to reach out.

The Tar Heels are hoping to add some depth to their secondary which has Storm Duck and Tony Grimes but could use another piece or two back there for the defense.

The 6-foot, 172 pound Riley is a Columbia, South Carolina native that picked Middle Tennessee State as part of the 2019 class and will enter his redshirt sophomore year here in 2022.

Since entering the portal, he’s drawn interest from programs like Mississippi State, NC State, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, Illinois, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, and Ole Miss among others.
