UNC football fans upset with ACC officials during first half

UNC football fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with ACC refs against Georgia Tech.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to get back on track after a heart-breaking loss to Virginia at home a week ago. But it’s not a easy test as the Tar Heels are going on the road to face off against Georgia Tech.

UNC has lost 10 of the last 12 matchups on the road at Georgia Tech as it’s been a house of horrors for the Tar Heels.

On Saturday, UNC jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the backs of Drake Maye and running backs Omarion Hampton and British Brooks. Everything was looking good until the second quarter when a combination of poor play by North Carolina and some questionable calls changed things.

Georgia Tech rallied back to tie the game at 21, scoring touchdowns on three consecutive drives.

On one drive for UNC, Maye hit tight end Bryson Nesbit deep for a third down gain but it was wiped away for ‘holding’ as you can see here:

Georgia Tech took advantage and scored on the next drive. The second Yellow Jackets drive then included a defensive pass interference call on UNC to setup another score. On the ensuing drive, Maye looked deep for Devontez Walker but there was a LOT of contact and nothing was called.

Look, it’s not all the refs fault as UNC’s defense has really struggled to slow down the Yellow Jackets in the second quarter allowing over 200 yards. The refs even missed an international grounding call on Drake Maye before he picked up a first down a play later.

Here is how UNC fans are reacting on social media to this ACC crew.
