UNC basketball target says Hubert Davis watching him ‘means a lot’

A five-star UNC basketball recruiting target talked the importance of Hubert Davis going out to watch him play.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have their sights set on five-star power forward Koa Peat, making it clear that he’s one of their biggest targets in the 2025 recruiting class.

After North Carolina made Peat’s top 10 list last week, Hubert Davis hit the recruiting trail to watch the recruit Saturday night. And that meant a lot to Peat.

The five-star recruit caught up with Charlie Parent of Zag’s Blog to talk about Davis watching him:

“That was really cool,” Peat said postgame. “Coach Davis is a great guy, great program over there and I had a good time on my visit over there so to see him at my games means a lot.”

Davis made the trip to Springfield to watch Peat after the Tar Heels had a big win over Syracuse on Saturday. Even with a win to move to 5-0 in ACC play, the recruiting never stops.

And Peat taking notice of that is important. Here is what Peat had to say overall on the Tar Heels in his recruitment:

North Carolina: “[They stressed] the history of North Carolina,” he concluded. “They would use me as a versatile wing, kind of like [HarrisonIngram, and just how they liked each other, how the team just got along with each other was my biggest takeaway.”

It’s still early in Peat’s recruitment but it does feel like the Tar Heels are a legit contender for him and he’s someone to keep an eye on moving forward.
