UNC Basketball takes down FAU in secret scrimmage

The UNC basketball program controlled Saturday’s secret scrimmage by beating FAU on the road.

The North Carolina Tar Heels had no trouble during Saturday’s secret scrimmage down in Florida.

While reporters and fans were not allowed in, multiple reports suggest that the Tar Heels took care of business on Saturday afternoon, beating FAU by double digits. While it’s not an actual game and there are ‘controlled’ segments of the scrimmages, it does bode well that the Tar Heels were able to take down a preseason Top 10 opponent in their own gym.

The Owls are coming off a Final Four season and are ranked No. 10 in the first Associated Press Top 25 poll of the year.

Following the scrimmage, Jeff Goodman tweeted out some notes about the team, which is great news:

Eric Bossi of 247Sports reported the score, saying UNC won 79-63 as the Owls were without their best player:

This should be considered good news, albeit just being a scrimmage. After what happened last year with the team missing the NCAA Tournament, we should take any good news we can receive.

North Carolina will return to the court on Friday to host St. Augustine’s in an exhibition. They will then host Radford to officially begin the season on November 6th.
