The North Carolina Tar Heels are in the middle of a very busy time between the transfer portal and recruiting for future recruiting classes. And the two often are tied together.
With two scholarships open for the upcoming season, UNC could see one or two members from the talented 2024 class move into 2023. If that happened, it would open spots in 2024 for another recruit and UNC still has its eyes on a top prospect.
Five-star combo guard Boogie Fland has yet to make a decision and has programs, including blue bloods Kentucky and UNC, still after him. While Fland is in the process of scheduling an official visit to the Wildcats, he told Kentucky Sports Radio that he’s still hearing from North Carolina:
Outside of Kentucky, he’s not sure who else he wants to see. North Carolina is still recruiting him, despite taking commitments from Ian Jackson and Elliot Cadeau.
“Yeah, I hear from them still,” he said. “They’re still telling me that they want me, and stuff like that. … I have a strong relationship with Ian Jackson. Me and Elliot are cool, but I haven’t talked to him like that.”
That’s certainly good news to hear that he has a relationship with Ian Jackson and does talk to Elliot Cadeau as well.
For now, we have to wait and see what either Jackson or Cadeau do in terms of a reclassification, which would open up a spot in 2024. And it appears to be a waiting game with dominos ready to fall.
