Despite extending 15 offers to Class of 2025 college basketball recruits, the North Carolina Tar Heels have yet to secure a commitment in the class.
With recent recruiting efforts, though, UNC is hoping it moves closer towards its first commitment.
On Wednesday, Sept. 4, North Carolina assistant coach Brad Frederick paid a well-timed recruiting visit to 4-star shooting guard Braylon Mullins at Greenfield-Central High School.
Frederick wasn’t the only coach watching Mullins in his home gym, as Michigan head coach Dusty May, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, Indiana head coach Mike Woodson and Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes were also in attendance.
The Tar Heels know there’s going to be a hole at shooting guard entering the 2025-2026 campaign, as RJ Davis runs out of eligibility and Ian Jackson will likely go pro. There’s a possibility Seth Trimble returns again, but remember earlier this offseason, when Trimble entered his name in the transfer portal before later withdrawing.

Mullins is the clear-cut star on a successful Greenville-Central squad, averaging 17.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game over his first three varsity seasons, including a career-best 25 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last year. Mullins nearly led his teammates to an IHSAA state championship, only for a loss in the title game to derail those plans.
If Frederick makes enough of a positive impression on Mullins, UNC could get a much-needed, early answer on its 2025-2026 roster outlook.
