UNC basketball commit stands out at Day 1 of camp

UNC basketball commit Ian Jackson stood out on day 1 at the Wootten 150 camp in Las Vegas.

Five-star North Carolina basketball recruit Ian Jackson is getting set for his final year of high school basketball, participating in Overtime Elite for his last year.  Jackson is a consensus top 10 recruit in the 2024 cycle and one of three recruits committed to the Tar Heels.

This weekend, Jackson is participating in Wootten 150 Camp in Las Vegas, showcasing some of the best talent in high school basketball. And already, Jackson is making an impression.

Jackson was named one of the standouts during Thursday’s Day 1 session as 247Sports’ analyst Eric Bossi wrote on his game:

Coming off of a strong showing at last weekend’s USA Basketball Fall minicamp, North Carolina committed five-star Ian Jackson was the clear standout on Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard from New York who currently ranks No. 10 nationally, Jackson more than looked the part of an elite prospect.

Name the setting and Jackson stood out. He had tremendous energy in drills. He was electric in three-on -three. He did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted in the five-on-five play and during one-on-one action, well, forget about it. Jackson was burying threes from deep, getting to his spots while being efficient with his dribbles, he was making some high level reads out of ball screens and as always, he was using his explosive athleticism to just do things that others couldn’t.

Jackson is playing with an incredible level of confidence right now and he’s putting up big numbers without having to force anything. He looks more than ready to step in and help out Hubert Davis and the Heels as soon as he arrives on campus and really looks like he’s been hard at work fine-tuning the rough edges of his game.

Jackson has continued to elevate his game since committing to North Carolina earlier in 2023. More impressive showings like this could see Jackson moving up in the recruiting rankings.

That would be great news for the Tar Heels’ 2024 class that is already ranked among the best in the country.
