UGA basketball expected to finish No. 12 in SEC

Georgia basketball has low preseason expectations entering 2023-2024.

The media has picked the Georgia Bulldogs to finish No. 12 in the SEC. No players on Georgia basketball made the preseason All-SEC team.

Head coach Mike White helped improve the Georgia basketball roster for the 2023-2024 season. Georgia finished No. 11 in the SEC last year. The Bulldogs went 16-16 overall including 6-12 in SEC play. Georgia returns a fair amount of roster continuity, so the Dawgs have a legitimate shot to outperform preseason expectations.

The media picked Tennessee basketball to win the SEC. Texas A&M guard Wade Taylor IV was named as the SEC’s preseason Player of the Year. Taylor IV averaged 16.3 points per game last season.

Georgia basketball opens the 2023-2024 basketball season against the Oregon Ducks in Las Vegas, Nevada. Georgia has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2015, but things are looking brighter under head coach Mike White.

Georgia added VCU transfer forward Jalen Deloach, USF transfer center Russel Tchewa, Illinois transfer forward RJ Melendez, Niagara transfer guard Noah Thomasson, and Nova Southeastern forward RJ Sunahara this offseason.

The Dawgs lost guard Kario Oquendo, forward Jusaun Holt, and forward KyeRon Lindsay to the transfer portal this offseason.
