TAMPA, Fla. – [autotag]Colby Covington[/autotag] and [autotag]Joaquin Buckley[/autotag] finally crossed paths ahead of what will be the final UFC fight of 2024 on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 63.
After making weight on Friday morning, Covington (17-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) and Buckley (21-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) came face-to-face for the first time on fight week during ceremonial weigh-ins at Amalie Arena, which also plays host to the fight card that airs on ESPN2 and streams on ESPN+.
Both men brought intensity and some words when they got in front of each other, then in the post-staredown interview with Brendan Fitzgerald, UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen appeared to speak on Covington’s behalf.
Now they are just hours from sharing the octagon in an important fight for the welterweight division.
