While the UFC 273 lineup has featured some major fights, there was no official location – until now.
The UFC has locked in the April 9 pay-per-view event for Jacksonville, Fla., a city the promotion has frequented since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, chief business officer Hunter Campbell told ESPN on Friday. UFC bantamweight champion [autotag]Aljamain Sterling[/autotag] had previously said publicly he’d heard rumors of the new location after talks of it being held in Brooklyn, N.Y., fell through.
While no venue accompanied the announcement, the promotion has held all of its Jacksonville events, four since the start of May 2020, at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Two title fights top the billing for UFC 273. In the main event, UFC featherweight champion [autotag]Alexander Volkanovski[/autotag] (23-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) defends his title against fan-favorite “The Korean Zombie” [autotag]Chan Sung Jung[/autotag] (17-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC).
The co-main event features a bantamweight title rematch between the aforementioned Aljamain Sterling (20-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) and his rival and former champion [autotag]Petr Yan[/autotag] (16-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC).
