Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Where’s Waldo? Where are the car keys? Those questions have been asked a lot over many decades, but the big question for Saturday in Salt Lake City is this: Where’s Cam Rising?
The Utah quarterback didn’t start in the Utes’ season opener against Florida, as expected, but there was a hope he would be ready for Week 2 against Baylor.
Nope. He didn’t play.
Week 3 against Weber State? There was no reason to play him against a cupcake opponent.
Now, however, the need for Utah to have Cam Rising on the field becomes a lot more acute. The Pac-12 schedule is starting, and the Utes are pursuing a third straight Pac-12 championship. Rising won each of the past two. He came back for one more year to try to win a three-peat. As of Thursday morning, Utah had not yet made a statement on Rising’s status and availability for the UCLA game. An announcement is expected later on Thursday.
Not knowing how this will all play out, our Pac-12 writers at Buffaloes Wire, Ducks Wire, and Trojans Wire took a stab at predicting Bruins-Utes, one of three really big Pac-12 games this week. Both UCLA and Utah are ranked in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
