Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has been hot on the transfer portal trail and he isn’t finished yet.
Having already secured the commitment of wide receiver Agiye Hall from Alabama this week, Sarkisian’s staff have now turned their sights to inside linebacker Caleb Johnson of UCLA, who took an official visit to Texas on April 18.
Johnson is no stranger to the Forty Acres, as he originally enrolled at Texas on Jan. 22, 2019 and played in three games that season. His time with the Longhorns was ultimately short lived when he signed with UCLA less than a year later.
He flourished with the Bruins, starting 17 games over the last two seasons where he totaled 89 tackles, two interceptions and 5.5 sacks. Now, Johnson could be eyeing a return to Texas.
His transfer destinations have already been narrowed down to two schools, Texas and Miami. Johnson is scheduled to announce his commitment on Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. PT.
I will be committing tomorrow at 3 pst ‼️🤘🏽🙌🏾

While there is reason for optimism here, keep in mind that Miami head coach Mario Cristobal is a very good recruiter in his own right and will not let Johnson head to Texas without a fight. In recruiting, nothing is over until it is over, and this recruitment may still have some surprises.
