The summer version of the Philadelphia 76ers received some tough news on Saturday when they found out that they would be without their star second-year guard, Tyrese Maxey, after he went home to Garland, Texas to coach a youth camp out there.
In his absence, the Sixers turned to Frank Mason III to start in his place, but they missed Maxey’s ability to get into the paint and create a shot for himself and for his teammates. They had a tough time finding any consistent buckets and they fell to the Boston Celtics 100-80 for their first loss in Vegas.
Philadelphia was led by Isaiah Joe added 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists, Paul Reed had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Mason III had nine points, and rookie Jaden Springer added six points and four rebounds. Second-round rookie Filip Petrusev had three blocks in a start at center.

The Sixers will now be looking to bounce back and finish up their summer league schedule on a strong note on Sunday when they take on the tough Minnesota Timberwolves squad. Without Maxey, Philadelphia will again have to be able to dig deep in order to go home on a strong note.
