Tyrese Maxey, Sixers react to Joel Embiid losing MVP award to Nikola Jokic

Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers give their reaction to Joel Embiid losing the MVP award to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

MIAMI — The Philadelphia 76ers have bigger things to worry about at the moment as they prepare to continue taking on the Miami Heat in their second-round series, but they received some news on Monday that Joel Embiid had come up short in the MVP race again to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Despite being the first big man to lead the league in scoring since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000 and the first big man to average 30 points in a season since Moses Malone in 1982, Embiid did not do enough in the eyes of the voters.

Now, give Jokic his credit. The man had his own incredible season, but Embiid had to deal with the Ben Simmons saga, a slew of injuries and COVID issues to the roster, and then adust to playing with James Harden as well.
